Internships 2014

TernItUp

It’s that time again! We are looking for interns for 2014 and if you’re interested in working with us, we are interested in hearing from you.

Who are we looking for?

You’re an all rounder. Being a small studio, we are all hands on deck, all the time. You’re independent. You have incredible attention to detail. You’re quick on your feet, able to take direction but also work without much. Someone called you pedantic once and you took it as a compliment. You have a quick wit and an unhealthy sense of humour. Your head is full to the brim with ideas and you can articulate them clearly when one slips out. You’re highly skilled in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator. You’re a positive person. A design zealot that is passionate about paper, print and colour. And, you are cooking up an awesome side project at the moment.

What should you expect?

Our internships run for two days a week, for three months (but we are quite flexible). As well as assisting us with our print and design projects such as branding, packaging, web, promotional and stationery projects, through your work here you’ll be exposed to our collaborators: other leading creative individuals, design studios, illustrators and agencies. We curate exhibitions and create our own paper products for retail, so you’ll also need a penchant for self-initiated, experimental studio projects.

You’ll be working with us on all aspects of our output, including but not limited to:

• Print production and finishing (punching, folding and packing products/stationery)
• Mixing ink, cutting paper and other letterpress printing related tasks
• Finished art, preparing files for output, colour separations and proofing
• Research, concept and design for studio and client projects

Don’t have much experience with letterpress? We’ll fix that.

Who are you?

Why do you want to work at The Hungry Workshop?

What are you working on at the moment?

Tell us a little about your experience with the creative industries so far:

Anything else you think we should know?

Show us some work

Supergraph!

Supergraph

We’ve managed to lug our Asbern Proof Press to the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens for the first ever Supergraph this weekend (Friday 14 February through to Sunday 16 February). We’ll be printing on the press for the entire event and if you’re keen to roll up your sleeves, you can help us print too.

We also have a great selection of limited edition letterpress prints and cards, at special Supergraph prices.

Open Studio

THW-Open-Studio-Blog

We’re opening the doors of The Hungry Workshop to the public on Saturday 14 December. All of our prints and cards will be on sale, as well as two letterpress print demonstrations. One on our Chandler & Price Platen and the other on the Asbern, our large format proof press.

If you’re interested in learning a little bit about letterpress, or want to grab some Christmas cards, prints or just want to come and say hello Saturday 14 December is the day!
