Patricia, is a new cafe in the Melbourne CBD that offers a stripped back, simplified coffee menu: black, white or filtered. The team at Beyond The Pixels studio worked closely withFoolscap and Pip and Bowen the proprietors, on the identity design and fit out. The main driver behind the brand was functional elegance and this was certainly reflected in the coasters we printed for them.
The hexagonal design has two perforations so they can quite simply be converted into a calling card and taken as a keepsake. The most challenging aspect of this job for us was the colour specified by Beyond The Pixels. On the reverse side of the coaster is a very subtle pink hue that is lighter than any colour in the Pantone book. We had a starting point, but the actual colour that we were aiming for was something outside the normal specification.
We compensated for the transperancy of the ink on off-white Beer Matt Board and, with a thorough press check and a several ink mixes, we managed to achieve the exact colour they had in mind.
Visit Beyond The Pixels for more details on the project, from the neon lighting design to the carefully laid floor tiles, the entire project is both functional and effortlessly elegant.
