Split fountain fireworks wedding invitations

Karina and Ryan, a couple all the way from Perth, Western Australia, commissioned us to create their wedding invitations. Paying homage to Ryan’s Chinese heritage, we designed and letterpress printed their invitations with a celebratory fireworks theme.

We used a special inking technique called ‘split fountain’ for their suite. By using two different ink colours at opposite ends of the inkwell a naturally blended gradient is created. A subtle mix from magenta through to burnt orange, coupled with the blind impression of the stylised, radial sparks creates a fantastic explosion of colour.

The suite included the invitation printed on a sheet of super thick Crane Lettra 600gsm, with matching letterpress printed envelopes and an RSVP card printed on Crane Lettra 300gsm with its own letterpress printed 4-bar envelope. It was all tied together with letterpress printed envelope liners, in a complimentary fireworks pattern, printed with the same split fountain colour gradient.

It was fantastic to work with people from the other side of Australia, and with the wonders of modern technology such as skype and the good old fashioned telephone, we never really feel that far away at all. We wish Karina and Ryan all the best, as we’re sure it’s going to be an absolute cracker of a day.
